The Hunter Region Organisation of Councils (HROC)
- The Hunter Region Organisation of Councils is an incorporated body comprising 13 Local Government Areas within the hUnter Region. HROC represents approximately 550,000 people and covers an area of 30,000 Sq. km.
The business of HROC is to foster co-operation and resource sharing between member Councils, encourage business investment and advocate the interests of the Hunter Region and its constituent Local Government Areas. HROC currently has 16 project teams working on many various activities and aspects of Council operations. These range from customer service to environmental improvement strategies, joint purchasing and plant and equipment sharing.
The Hunter Regional Develoment Organisation (HURDO)
- The Hunter Regional Development Organisation aims to facilitate balanced, sustainable economic development in the Hunter Region through the formulation, implementation and maintenance of a coordinated economic development strategy.
The Hunter Economic Development Corporation (HEDC)
- The Hunter Economic Development Corporation provides advice to the New South Wales State Government through the Minister for State and Regional Development on strategic economic issues in the Region. They are responsible for facilitating the implementation of economic development strategies for the Region and coordinating initiatives with private and publis sector organisaitons to identify, assess, promote and implement regional economic initiatives.
The Hunter Development Board (HDB)
- The Hunter Devleopment Board is an independent regiojnal development organisation which aims to facilitate the balanced devleopment of the Hunter Region of New South Wales. The primary activities of the HDB are to provide advice to Government, participate in environmental discussion groups, service the needs of Newcastle with labour market programs and provide consulting services to industry.
The Hunter Regional Tourism Organisation (HRTO)
- The aim of the Hunter Regional Tourism Organisaiton is for the Hunter Region to be nationally recognised as Australia's premier regional tourist destination offering first class hospitality and the best of real Australia. The HRTO compliments local tourism bodies by acting as coordinator and facilitator of major regional research, marketing, product development and community awareness programs.
